Thank you to all the sponsors who made it possible for Max Ulfsparre to attend the 2008 People to People World Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C. from September 8th through September 14th, 2008!
With 500 - 11 year old delegates from all over the world touring the United States Capital, sitting in on a Senate meeting, visiting museums and historic sites, it was certainly a week he will always remember ...
"Did you know that your words are only 7% of communication and that your tone and body language make up the rest?", Max marveled after listening to the forum's keynote speaker Sean Covey, author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens.
Max also learned the distinction between wishes and goals and how to apply principles to your life.
"Making friends with kids from different countries, like South Africa to Australia and China, was probably the most awesome experience about the whole trip", claims Max, who plans to keep in touch with his fellow delegates via e-mail.
"Even though we come from other countries and cultures, we all pretty much have the same feelings and needs."
People to People was founded in 1956 by U.S. President Dwight D.
Eisenhower with the premise that peace can be achieved through
understanding. Making a difference in the world begins with students
developing their own leadership skills and the World Leadership Forum
offers a unique opportunity from students to join other highly
motivated and accomplished middle school students from around the
globe.
